While technique always plays a role, the beauty of some of our finishes comes largely from the unique materials we use – which was the case with this recent specialty finish in Concord, MA!
Our client wanted the living room in their new home to have a distinct look from the adjacent rooms. Specifically- they were looking for a cozy feel with organic variation in the finish to contrast with the light neutral paint in the surrounding spaces.
To accomplish this, we used a material called Roman clay – which is applied with metal blades. The product has a beautiful natural mottled look that is similar to lime paint and Venetian plaster. Unlike lime paint, Roman clay has a smoother feel and has a slightly less rustic look. Comparted to Venetian plaster on the other hand, Roman clay is not as glossy and has a less formal look. This in-between was just perfect for this space and what the client was looking for!
